Range Extended Electric Vehicle – an electric vehicle with extended range. The wheels are powered exclusively by the electric motor, and the gasoline generator charges the battery.

It is a series hybrid. It can be used as a pure electric car, but the electronics will automatically start the gasoline generator when the battery needs charging.
